We had to make a final project about the installation of thermal solar panels for the production of domestic/sanitary hot water, in an existing shopping mall located in Côte d'Or (21).
This thermal solar system is a kind of independant kit which shall be put on top of the existing system, in order to keep the insurrance contracts of the current installations.
Our final project will thus fold into two parts :
The first will focus on the technical aspect of the project, we have to act as an engineering consulting firm and evaluate a thermal solar system that satisfy the domestic/sanitary hot water needs of the shopping mall.
It currently consumes 5000 l per day from October to Mars and 7000 l from April to September.
In this study of thermal solar system, we took into account the type of the panels, how to install them, the regulation and the ECS storage. (?)
In a second part, we shall estimate the total cost of this installation. We have to evaluate the financial impact of the replacement of the current system (electric) by a thermal solar system.
All our work will be based on the following datas :
- flat rectangular roof, 30m x 40m
- not inclined
- without shade
This report thus presents the work we have done to complete our study.

As part of our training which would lead us to obtain the professional degree (même si je pense que licence professionnelle n'a pas d'équivalent) "energy and climatic engineering, speciality renewable energy" (aucune idée de comment traduire ça), we had to make a final project concerning the installation of thermal, solar panels for the production of sanitary hot water, in an already existing shopping centre, in Côte d'Or (21). This thermal, solar system is a sort of separate kit that will be added to the already existing system, in order to keep the insurrance contracts of the current installations.
Our final project falls into two parts :
The first one will be focused on the technical aspect of the whole project. We have to consider ourselves a research office, and evaluate/assess/measure a thermal, solar system in order to answer/meet the sanitary hot water needs of the shopping centre whose
- From October to March : 5,000 L/day
- From April to September : 7,000 L/day
In this study about thermal solar systems, we took into account the kinds of panels, the way they are installed, the regulation and the ECS storage/ the kinds of panels, the way they are to be installed, the regulation and the ECS storage were taken into account (la voix passive est peut-être plus anglaise, même si je pense que ça n'a pas grande importance, vu que c'est un texte assez terre-à-terre).
The second part will tackle the installation cost. We have to evaluate the financial impact brought about by the replacement of the current system (i.e. electric) with (je crois que c'est la construction replace with) a thermal solar system.
Our whole work will be based on the following datas :
- flat rectangular roof, 30m x 40m
- not inclined
- without shade
This dissertation thus presents the work that we have carried out to complete/fulfill our study.
